Jeremy: Childhood friend, computer and coding prodigy from family who did not support his intelligence in any way because of his parents' own personal struggles, got into hacking and brought Ian with him. Dropped out of school while Ian finished and graduated. Bitter and unfriendly to most people as a rule but it softens to banter with his inner circle.
Hannah: Childhood friend, Jeremy's girlfriend when he dropped out of school but they've since broken up and become more like fractious siblings. Foster child who knows little to nothing about her biological family. Not as chilly as Jeremy but rather distant and sarcastic with all but her closest friends, who bring out a goofier and less self-conscious side in her.
Sylvan: Rich kid rebelling against his parents. Actual rebellious/altruistic spirit but still figuring out how the world really works outside of his family's sphere. Takes merciless teasing about it from the others which has helped him develop a sharp wit delivered with a deceptively calm smile. Not as sweet as he looks or as laid-back as he seems. Can kick your ass.
